Tell us a bit more about your idea.
Over one million Londoners own bicycles, yet bicycles are being stolen in London at the rate of 52 a day. I want to provide safe and affordable parking to keep people's 'cycles safe and keep the streets less polluted! This idea would also work in other major cities such as Manchester and Liverpool.
How will your idea make a difference to people’s lives?
People will be able to safely store their bicycles with no concerns for whether they will ever be returned. The current rate of bicycles stolen is so high it put many people off cycling, at a time when cycling should be encouraged to lessen the cars, congestion and pollution that occurs now in cities.
How long would it take to make your idea a reality?
Hopefully it would not take too long, but as it would require a location and small scale building to organise, it may take a year or two at most, but requires little time once this is done!
Do you have any concerns with making your idea happen?
There do exist cycle parking at some public transport stations, but these are open air, easily accessible and hugely unsecure. They also do not properly moniter the safety of the bikes.
Why do you think you’re the right person to make this idea a success?
Because I believe it's a good idea that would not only benefit cyclists but benefit the environment too, and I feel it is important to keep people's assets safe, providing peace of mind to the people.
