Tell us a bit more about your idea.
Samba Kicks Soccer School is for children aged between 10 and 15 years old. Operating in Dumfries and Galloway the aim is to allow children to learn to wonderful game of football in an environment which allows them to express themselves. Unlike many youth clubs where winning is the main aim, at Samba Kicks the development of each child is paramount! Not only is it about football skills, Samba Kicks aims to improve and raise awareness of important life skills that children can use in the future. Whether that is at school or applying for a job!
How will your idea make a difference to people’s lives?
Samba Kicks caters for all abilities and therefore anyone can attend and enjoy playing football. By developing their football skills in this environment there is a much better chance that they will remain in the game when they are older and influence the next generation of young footballers. Socially the impact is massive. Each year the soccer school will plan trips to youth football tournaments around the world not only to enjoy playing football but to reap the cultural benefits. The hope is that by witnessing different countries and traditions the children will form their own opinions and be able to make future decisions based on this.
How long would it take to make your idea a reality?
To start-up Samba Kicks it would take four to six months.
Do you have any concerns with making your idea happen?
The two concerns I have is the lack of adequete facilities in Dumfries and Galloway and the cost of the ones already available.
Why do you think you’re the right person to make this idea a success?
I am extremely passionate about coaching football and helping young people to reach their potential. Everyone has the ability to succeed at whatever they want and I believe that I can help them achieve this. I've been a coach for a number of years and remain deeply ingrained in researching new coaching styles and practices.
