Tell us a bit more about your idea.
Our school is in need of a new social hub; a place for students to eat their lunch and study outside at lunchtimes and break times. A team of students have already designed the area as part of an in school design competition. This area is currently unused and our plan would transform the area into a multi-purpose area for the whole community as well as school pupils.
The area has been designed to include;
- A raised decking area that would act as a stage as well as seating space - this would mean Drama, Dance and other activities could be held here!
- Many seats and furniture for students to use at lunch time. These will also be able to be moved freely to create a more flexible space.
- A over head cover/canopy to make the outside space waterproof.
- Recycling bins to promote being eco-friendly.
- Students work displayed all around the area so they respect it and feel proud to be there.
Lessons could be held outside, as classrooms get stuffy and pupils enjoy new different ways of learning. After school groups or holiday groups could use this space too - our community would definitely benefit from it!
How will your idea make a difference to people’s lives?
The idea will give students a place to relax and study together with friends at school. There needs to be a place the students can call their own, somewhere they can respect and learn in, but at the same time enjoy a positive experience in it. It will enhance the pupils educations if they have a positive place to study. The idea could also change people's lives by offering a place for new activities or groups - they will give people more opportunities to try new things, excel socially and learn new skills.
How long would it take to make your idea a reality?
This idea would take approximately six+ weeks to build but could be built in phases.
Do you have any concerns with making your idea happen?
There are no concerns at the moment apart from money. The school's head teacher and site manager have already agreed it would be a great project for the school but we need the money.
Why do you think you’re the right person to make this idea a success?
I think i am the right person to make this idea a success because I am strong-willed and passionate about this idea. I have the right contacts and the right people backing me to bring this idea to reality.
