To Raise awareness in schools by teaching sports like skateboarding. By building a indoor facility for young people.
Top Tip...
It can be tempting to give as much detail as possible to sell your idea but sometimes too many words can be overwhelming. Win people over by making your idea easy to understand.
To run a indoor facility with portable ramps and rails/kickers etc for sports like skateboarding, bmx riders and rollerblades. We are definatly going to add some permenant ramps in the near future too as this is a ongoing project from the moment we can get started. If your not too into whats considered 'normal' sports like football and just wanna hang out somewhere warm and dry there will be loads of other things to do. workshops will be running regularly doing activities such a t-shirt designing, and board graphics designs. We also hope to use this space for local gigs, events and parties. We will provide a small equipment Shop to supply the users with what they need and and a food shop and seating to come watch your kids! I believe this is the best location for a idea such as this because the brighton/eastbourne skate scene is massivly evolving and is in the perfect location not far away from London
We will also be visiting schools to get kids involved with sports like skateboarding. we aim to do this by getting qualified to teach it at surrounding areas like brighton. We have support from our local mp, parents, local buisness's and brighton representatives. We have looked into The Tony Hawk foundation funding, and Have funding from local council, and sponsors too.
Our idea will not cost anything to staff as it is ALL voluntary and will hope to make some exciting projects for young and old. It is basically run by older experienced Skaters/bmx riders for younger generations, give it 10 years the skateboarding scene will be massive!
To provide this facility would be to provide a shelter for young people to learn, exercise and socialize whilst in a secure area.
Social Benefits:
-Skateparks provide a physical activity for kids that arent interested in traditional team sports.
-Community skateparks provide a secure and challenging place for skaters of all levels to grow as athletes.
-Skateboarding and rollerblading are two of the fastest growing sports in the United States with more than 14 million participants.
-Public Skateparks get kids "off the streets" and into a safe place. Without a indoor public skatepark, the kids are forced to play in the streets.
-Creating a community skatepark will help minimize damage skaters do to public and private property.
-A great designed and built skatepark acts as an extension of the local skateboarders specific needs. Skaters build a feel of ownership by participating in design conversations skatepark company.
-Public skateparks provide healthy activity for kids and help eliminate boredom and drug use. Youth addiction services have identified the most common reason for drug use is boredom.
Economic Benefits:
-Skateparks help create the need for quality skateboard shops. This helps bring new jobs and tax revenue to the community.
-Skateparks help create new skateboard teaching and instructional jobs.
The community should set up skateboard lessons and camps to help teach beginner through experienced riders.
This creates a winning environment for the skaters, instructors and community
-A professionally designed skatepark will attract out-of-town visitors to spend money within the community.
From january (if we get funding) it would take a 3-4 months.
We have alot of contacts that are willing to get involved. We have volunteers in almost every line of work. giving us a huge advantage when it comes to budgeting our money as we arent paying labour costs etc.
Our only concern is lack of funding as fundrasing and support from buisness's only goes so far! We are holding downhill events and Local skateboard jams in the near future to fund raise. If we weren't to get this funding.
Exetremely passionate about skateboarding, and have certificates in health and safety, first aid and safegaurding children. and am training to become a fully qualified instructor of skateboarding, and working with my mum in a nursery has given me alot of experience working with children.
We also have a whole team of willing youths ready to help out and are holding regular meetings to see if theres any new ideas and thoughts. Our team of older people have qualifications in buisness studies and fully understand how the market of skateboarding works today (e.g good brands, equipment etc.) We have been trying to set this up for about 2 years now with little luck, this is the big break we've been looking for! Put my heart into this.
